At the Sub-Saharan Brain Health Initiative, we are committed to forging a brighter future for individuals and communities across the African continent by addressing the critical disparities in research, education, and care for neurocognitive disorders. We seek to drive a transformative impact on brain health by…
We envision a Sub-Saharan Africa where people realize their full potential over the life course, no matter the situation.
To lead the advancement of brain health through education, advocacy, professional development, research and scientific exchange among Africans.
To build a network of people with interests in advancing brain health in Sub-Saharan Africa.
To implement public health strategies that promote, address, and support brain health and wellness for all persons especially those living with brain health disorders and their caregivers.
To lead evidence-based brain health advocacy for brain-health-friendly policies across the sub-region.
To educate and build the capacity of relevant professionals, caregivers and communities, ensuring early case identification, patient navigation, proper diagnosis and effective care for persons with brain health disorders.
To carry out innovative research in brain health across sub-Saharan Africa.
To foster collaborations and establish strategic global partnerships towards the achievement of brain health equity.
To align with local organisations in different Sub-Saharan Africa countries in identifying sustainable strategies to indigenously address brain health challenges.
We build a community of brain health enthusiasts, working collaboratively to promote healthy brains in a compassionate manner; we actively engage with communities to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations and develop culturally sensitive solutions; our initiatives are shaped by community input and participation to ensure relevance and sustainability.
We recognize that brain health is interconnected with physical, mental, and social well-being. Our initiatives address the holistic needs of individuals and communities for comprehensive improvement.
We base our initiatives on scientific evidence while continuously seeking new and progressive ideas to improve brain health outcomes.
We ensure excellence and highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism in all our actions and decisions.
