Kelechi Hart Ekeledo is a video journalist with 8+ years of experience focused on truth-driven storytelling. From his beginnings at the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA) in South East Nigeria, to his current role as a state correspondent for Africa Independent Television, AIT, one of Nigeria's premier broadcast entities, Kelechi's work has garnered nominations like the Reporther Awards. Recognized for his leadership during his national youth service program, he's known as the 'Hart of OBS,' emphasizing journalism's societal impact. With a commitment to integrity and advocating for the marginalized, Kelechi aims to use his career to address pressing issues and bring about positive change.
Dr Mohammed Adinoyi USMAN is a lecturer with the Federal University Dutse and a consultant anaesthesiologist with the Rasheed Shekoni Federal Teaching Hospital Dutse Jigawa State Nigeria. He has interest in neuropharmacology, particularly pain management, anaesthetics and the effect on the brain.
Williams Obiya holds a BNSc from Ebonyi State University. He is a nurse with over 10 years of clinical experience in primary healthcare and tertiary health care. He is currently on government payroll as a nursing officer. He is a 2023 Fellow of Art in Medicine. He also volunteers his time to community service through Rotaract club and Nigerian Red Cross Society. He believes that it profits most, he who serves best.
Elul Dereje Lakew, is a Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Advocate from Ethiopia. She is an Atlantic Fellow for Equity and Brain Health 2023-2024 cohort.
Jonbethel Ezeugo is a multi-talented Nigerian producer, singer, and instrumentalist whose music blends activism with artistry. He debuted with *African Child* in 2014, advocating for child rights as a former member of the National Children's Parliament. With over 300 performances, including TEDx events, diplomatic gatherings, and festivals like Felabration, Ezeugo continues to use his platform for social change. His latest EP, *Who Says African’t*, is a bold musical statement that challenges stereotypes and celebrates African resilience and innovation. Through a fusion of Afrobeat, soul, and contemporary sounds, the project amplifies themes of empowerment and cultural pride.
Despite holding a degree in Theatre and Film Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and making TV appearances on *Nigerian Idol* and *Nigeria’s Got Talent*, Ezeugo remains deeply committed to community service. He founded Dream Chasers, a children's band in slum communities, and revamped national anthems for NYSC and the SDGs during his service year. Through his NGO, Save Our Tomorrow, he continues to merge talent and activism, using music as a tool for empowerment and social impact.
Dr Christian Oko is a public health doctor who is passionate for mental health research and policy advocacy. He holds a medical degree from the University of Nigeria, Master’s in Public Health from the Birmingham City University and another masters in Health Economics and Policy from the University of Birmingham. He further has a postgraduate certificate in health policy from the University of Lancaster as well as a certificate in Global Health Research from the University of Washington, United States.
He has worked as a Research Assistant with the University of Birmingham projects that were funded by the National Institute of Health Research. He has also worked as a Research Consultant for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the Health Policy Unit of the London School of Economics in global health research projects. Christian is also e-Health Management lecturer at Rome Business School, Nigeria and has several academic research publications to his credit.
Mrs. Ogeri Rosemary Idika is a Nutritionist, Food Scientist and an avid Farmer. She has a degree in Home Economics (Food and Nutrition) from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, an MSc Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Ibadan, and currently a Doctoral student in Food Processing and Storage at the Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
She is a Principal Research Officer at the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria, Iyanomo, Benin City, Edo State. Mrs. Idika is a mother of four beautiful children among whom is Isioma Adaure, an artist and a Cerebral Palsy warrior. Aside from her research work, Mrs. Idika devotes time for nutrition education advocacy programmes targeting pregnant and nursing mothers and parents of special needs children.
Dr. Chukwudi Okebaram is a distinguished clinician, pharmacologist, and academic with extensive expertise in neuropharmacology, mental health, and higher education. As the Chair of the Education and Training Thematic Working Group at the Sub-Saharan Africa Brain Health Initiative (SSABHI), he leads strategic efforts to advance brain health education, capacity building, and workforce development across the region.With a strong background in clinical pharmacology and mental health, Dr. Okebaram is committed to bridging knowledge gaps through innovative curriculum development, training programs, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
His work focuses on empowering healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers with the necessary skills to improve brain health outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa. He brings a wealth of experience from academia, research, and leadership, having held key positions in medical education, community health, and regulatory policy. Passionate about sustainable health interventions, Dr. Okebaram is dedicated to fostering a resilient, well-trained workforce capable of addressing the pressing neurological and mental health challenges in the region.
Beniam Diarge is a Lecturer and researcher at the Arba Minch University, Ethiopia. He is also an Atlantic fellow for Equity and Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute.
Dr Mataa Moses Mataa is chairperson of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias in Zambia (ADDIZ) and an Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) at the University of California, San Francisco. He is an adult neurologist at Chipata hospital in Lusaka, Zambia, focused on brain health and dementia. Dr Mataa trained at the University of Zambia School of Medicine in Lusaka, Zambia. He holds a Diploma in Palliative Care from the University of Makerere, Uganda. He serves as Advocacy focal person for Zambia with the International Association for hospice and palliative care (IAHPC).
Dr. Dzifa Dellor is a medical doctor (resident) training in psychiatry, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana. She serves as the Ghana Country Lead for the Sub-Saharan Brain Health Initiative (SSABHI) and the coordinator of the Prayer Subcommittee of the Psychiatry Association of Ghana (PAG). An alumna of the University Ghana and staff of the University of Ghana Medical Centre.
She is committed to research, advocacy, and training to prioritize brain health and destigmatize brain/mental health disorders.
Damian Omogo is a Medical Laboratory Scientist with research interests in Neuroscience, Neuropharmacology, and Biomedical sciences. He is the Head of Secretariat, SSABHI and is passionate about improving Brain Health and knowledge sharing among African Researchers.
